Online backup tools and the cloud are very handy options of keeping your data in a secure place. This eliminates the need to spend money on hard drives or external drives.

Google Drive is now set to make backing up your data a lot easier. The users will be able to backup files from any folder of their choice and are not limited to the drive folder only. The different folders on your desktop or even the different partitions of the hard drive can all be backed up now quite conveniently.

In simple words, there is nothing on your computer which you cannot back up now!

This new exciting feature of Google Drive will be available from 28th of June and is being called Backup and Sync. According to some reports, this feature can altogether replace both the Google Drive and the Google Photos Backup.

The company is recommending that all the normal users must download the app once it is available after release. On the other hand, the business users should be sticking to the older or the current version of the Google Drive app.

The company hasn’t announced any new features which it will be introducing along with this new app. The users will be allowed to open and edit the usual files right within the drive just like they were able to do in the older version. It is still unclear whether the app will allow you to sync those files with other computers or not.

One thing to be kept in mind is that multiple copies of the files will also add to the drive storage limit too.

No other app is offering such a feature currently making this an exceptional move by Google. Users have been expecting such a feature from Dropbox for quite some time but there hasn’t been any success. Allowing the users to back up every file, folder, and document on their computer gives Google an edge over other backup options.
