Chairman of Alibaba which is one the biggest e-commerce platforms in the world, Jack Ma, met the Prime Minister of Pakistan and expressed his interest in Pakistan’s e-commerce sector.
“We are ready to invest for establishing an e-commerce platform in Pakistan,” said Ma while attending a meeting regarding sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
He went on to say that his company is keeping a close watch on the e-commerce sector of the country and monitoring its progress.
Jack Ma is on a mission to support small scale industries in the developing countries of the world. He informed Nawaz Sharif that his company Alibaba has been facilitating around 60 million companies around the world.
While talking about China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he mentioned that this initiative will provide numerous opportunities and will help in the promotion of the bilateral economic ties between Pakistan and China.
He has also invited Prime Minister to visit the headquarters of his company in Guangzhou. Nawaz wasn’t behind in showing his hospitality and invited him to visit Pakistan while praising his services for global e-commerce.
Alibaba is a dominant player in China’s e-commerce market. Its Taobao platform is projected to hold more than 90 percent of the consumer-to-consumer market whereas the Tmall platform is estimated to have more than half of business-to-consumer transactions.
