After Nokia, it is time for Blackberry to make a comeback in the industry with a new tie-up. Blackberry KEYone has already been announced by the company which was developed in collaboration with TCL Communications. There are chances that the company could now be launching another smartphone by partnering with PT BB Merah Putih from Indonesia.
A leaked image of the smartphone has revealed it will be named “Aurora” and will be a collaboration between PT BB Merah Putih and Blackberry. The official debut of the phone can be expected anytime soon. The device has appeared in renders before and now, an official image has been leaked of the phone.
Some sources have revealed that the smartphone will only be of the entry level and will be available for the Indonesian audience only.
Reportedly, the smartphone has a 5.5-inch screen, a 720p display, 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage. There are chances that the handset might get Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 425 chipset along with a 3000mAh battery. This is the first time that Blackberry will be introducing a dual-SIM smartphone. A brand licensing deal between Blackberry and TCL Corporation has restricted the company to sell its smartphones everywhere except in the countries India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Nepal.
The company has also signed a contract with New Delhi-based Optiemus Infracom for selling the Blackberry smartphones in India. The smartphone has been listed on the retailer’s website carrying the price Rs.39,999. The last smartphone to be designed in-house by the company is the KEYone and it is still unknown when the smartphone will be launched. Even its launch is under question for the time being.
