A few months ago, the Xiaomi Mi Mix shocked the world with the revelation of the specs and the screen which made it one of its kind.
All the specifications and features definitely made it one of the finest and technologically advanced phones of 2016. The phone supported a nearly bezel-less 6.4-inch display screen. Despite such a huge screen size, it still looked similar to phones like Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
The phone started out as a concept phone which later went into production. Once it was launched in the market, it started boasting high sales. It wasn’t only the design of the phone which managed to impress the audiences but the overall features played a vital part as well. The Mi Mix came with Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 and had a 6GB RAM and 256GB storage capacity which was huge. Priced at $535 and $585 (the higher end model), the phone was still a lot cheaper than other flagship phones.
It’s been only 4 months since this successful model was launched and Xiaomi is already working on its successor.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2
It seems that the company will continue the legacy of providing something attractive yet functional to the audiences. The CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, announced on the Chinese social website, Weibo, that the company has already started working on the “design concept of the Mi MIX next generation”. The post did not reveal a lot of details but mentioned that the company is working with a French designer, Philippe Starck, for the design of the upcoming model. He is the one who already helped in designing the previous version which became quite successful.
If the rumors are to be believed then Mi Mix 2 will come with an unbelievable 99 percent screen to body ratio.
The first rumor says that the Mi Mix will make use of the curved OLED screen and transform the front of the phone into a complete screen. If we consider the design of its predecessor then this one is quite different.
The second rumor suggests that a sliding drawer will be used for the camera and for the speakers and the sensors as well. This could help in saving considerable space which the camera in the previous model used.
We must not forget that both are rumors which are based on the leaked prototypes. However, implementation of one of the two is possible.
Considering the specifications, one can expect the Mi Mix 2 to come with the same cutting edge tech which was seen in the previous model while supporting better hardware.
However, it is expected that most of the specifications will be same as nothing exciting has been announced in the performance department since the release of the Mi Mix. This includes 6GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. There is a possibility that the base version might get ab upgrade from 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage to 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage respectively.
