Wi-tribe is ready to deploy the fastest LTE Advanced network (LTE-A) in Pakistan and make it functional around May 2017.

According to the sources, Wi-tribe has already signed Huawei for the deployment of the high-speed internet in the five cities where it operates majorly. It has been billed as 4.5G LTE.

Within the next few months, this newly planned LTE Advanced network will have the capacity to provide a speed of 100Mbps per household. The plan is to raise the speed to 200Mbps by the end of 2018 and by using the same technology, the goal is to deliver speeds up to 400Mbps per household in the year 2019. This will become a definite possibility when advanced CPEs (customer premises equipment) will be available within the next couple of years.

After its deployment, Wi-tribe will become the first operator in the regions of South Asia and the Middle East to introduce this kind of technology on its rich 3.5Ghz spectrum.

According to Wi-tribe, this network enhancement is a part of the $50 million investment plan of HB Group. The company had announced about this plan during the time it acquired Wi-tribe from Ooredoo which is Qatar’s national telecom company.

Chairman of the Wi-tribe Supervisory Board and Former UK Government Minister Shahid Malik commented on this investment:

“Within six months’ time, over 1 million households will have access to the fastest wireless home broadband service in Pakistan using the most advanced technology currently available anywhere in the world.

In practice, this will mean a revolution in terms of the amount of data Wi-tribe can offer its customers, but more importantly, it will mean lightening speeds of up to 100Mbps for a single user household.

This type of speed is unheard of in our industry and if you couple that with huge GB volumes available, we will be able to offer the best internet packages in Pakistan in terms of speed, volume, reliability and value for money.”

The thing which is worth mentioning is that this network upgradation by Wi-tribe is the second major investment by the company after its acquisition of multi-million dollar spectrum last year in 2016 to double the capacity of its network.

Wi-tribe plans to have this upgrade live around May 2017 and estimates that by the end of July 2017, around 50 percent of the network will be upgraded to the latest LTE-A.

Shahid Malik revealed that this is only the start of the investment journey as the company plans to double the speed to 200Mbps in 2018 and again hike it to 400Mbps in 2019. This will be a possibility when CPE catches up with the latest LTE-A technology.

With the deployment of the LTE Advanced network, Wi-tribe will be providing matchless internet services to the businesses and households guaranteeing faster internet as compared to all the competitors. Users will be enjoying digital entertainment and live TV as well.
